The City of Oakridge is dedicated to providing life saving paramedic and fire services to the citizens of the community.  Ensuring that lives, as well as structures, can be saved in an emergency is a critical service that ensures prosperity, growth, and the well being of the general public.

 

  

  Oakridge is nestled in Eastern Lane County off of Oregon Route 58, also known as Willamette Highway 18.  Oakridge is a small community with a population of 3,500.  Oakridge Fire & EMS is a Fire Department governed under the City of Oakridge.  The Fire Department is a combination department consisting of full-time career staff under IAFF Local 851, part-time staff and volunteers that operate under a non-profit 501(c)3.  Oakridge Fire & EMS operates 2 full-time medic units and a 3rd out when available.  Our Ambulance Service Area (ASA) is 2,200 square miles, the largest in the county, with mostly rural forested area.  Our Fire Service area is Oakridge city limits.  We also work under an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with with both Hazeldell Rural Fire District and the City of Westfir to respond for all emergency calls.  We respond to all types of emergency calls as far East as Willamette Pass Ski area, mp 61, as far west as mp 17 bordering Dexter Rural Fire District.  Oakridge Fire & EMS responds to over 800 calls per year, with more than 87% of those being ambulance calls. The United States Forest Service, along with various independent contractors, control fires in the surrounding National Forest.
